Issue #001 — Why Unicorner exists
What this newsletter is, what it isn't, and the three companies on our radar this week.
Welcome to the first issue.
The pitch is simple: every Sunday morning, you'll get one short brief on what's actually moving in early-stage startups. Five-minute read. Real curation. No recycled headlines.
This first issue is a thank-you and a tour.
The format, in three parts
Each issue is built around the same shape so you can read it on autopilot:
- Lead story — one company, idea, or shift worth understanding this week.
- Five quick links — the things every operator should have seen.
- Build this — a specific, narrow problem someone reading should go work on.
That's it. No essays. No "10 takeaways from the macroeconomy."
Three on the radar this week
Placeholder names — swap in real picks before your first real send.
- Company A — A small team building something we think is more important than its current size suggests. Watch list reason in one line.
- Company B — Hired their first GTM lead from an unexpected place. The hire itself is the signal.
- Company C — Quietly shipped a feature most incumbents won't match for at least two quarters.
Why "Unicorner"
We're less interested in unicorns than in the corners they come from — the dorm room, the side project, the obscure forum, the second-time founder's third startup. Things that aren't yet obvious.
